Catching the music bug at a young age, Russell Turnquist sang in the church youth choir, started playing saxophone and eventually guitar in later elementary school, and by middle school he formed his first rock and roll band and had paid gigs at dances and anniversary parties. After college and the better part of a decade in institutional finance, music called him back out in California where he started playing live regularly. Eventually returning to his native Boston area, he formed The Rusted Bucket Band with acclaimed drummer Gregory Desimone – they released their debut album in May of 2019, Better Late Than Never Better Never Late. More recently, he teamed up with master engineer and producer, Dave Westner, and multi-instrumentalist virtuoso, Andy Santospago, and they recorded a few albums worth of songs in a studio on a horse farm under the project name Thrice Dice. Volume 1 of the recent Thrice Dice recordings will be released late summer/early fall 2023. Russell brings a genuine passion and integrity to his song delivery of both originals and covers. He believes strongly in the potency of what music offers us and loves sharing songs in community.
